Katharine Greider
Katharine Greider has written on medicine, culture and history for newspapers (from the AARP Bulletin to The New York Times), magazines (from Self to Legacy) and non-profits (the AFL-CIO, the International Rescue Committee). Her first book, The Big Fix: How the Pharmaceutical Industry Rips Off American Consumers (PublicAffairs) came out in 2003. A student of religion and women's studies as an undergrad at Princeton, she also has studied poetry in the MFA program of Warren Wilson College. In 2002, the unexpected demise of the New York City row house she shared with her husband and two children led to gut-churning legal and financial trouble — but also inspired an odyssey into the past, and her forthcoming book, The Archaeology of Home: An Improbable Personal History of a Thousand Square Feet on the Lower East Side.
