Growing up in small-town America, Ann developed an early fascination with maps and tales of adventure in faraway lands. After completing her university studies in English Literature and Biochemistry, she emigrated to Europe, where she could indulge her interest in other cultures and languages, and embark on a (still ongoing) quest to find the perfect croissant and the world’s most delectable gelato.
As a lab scientist, teacher, translator, and medical writer, she has lived and worked in a number of countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
In her fiction, she likes to explore the effects of culture (and cultural dislocation) on identity and the perception of self.
She currently lives in Switzerland.
