Hope is Everywhere

Dennis Lehane was profiled by Elaine Szewczyk in Publisher’s Weekly ahead of the release of his forthcoming novel, SMALL MERCIES.

One may read the summaries of Lehane’s novels and wonder if he has a dark outlook on the world, but as he says: “The word hope, I’d bet, shows up more in my books than anything other than the f-bomb. It’s hope and feckin’ hope. Feckin’ hope is everywhere.”

Ann was also quoted, trying to summarize Lehane’s genius: “He’s an old soul, an empath. The distinctiveness of his voice brings an immediacy to his characters.”
